Edit Paisley Road Toll 1960s
Now the home of La Fiorentina, the Italian restaurant , back in the 1960s it was a gents' outfitters.
Long before the Garden Festival and later redevelopment, the landscape on the Govan Road side was looking rather bleak
Does Anyone know what the angel is about?
Yes..............I think I've found why there's an angel on top of the Ogg building, will try to confirm from my old research of Kinning Park.
yes............i unearthed a clue to the reason for the angel on the ogg building at the toll while researching william(crimea) simpsons kinning park sketches.
Please put me out of my misery William Carlin and tell me the reason for the angel if you have found out

Really quite sad nobody really knows the history of the Angel at Paisley Road Toll - especially when they pulled down a lot of the buildings around her - lived at 13 Govan Road! - have tried in the past to find out.

Yes the outfitters at La Fiorentina was, in fact, Burton the Taylors - I lived across the road at No. 19 Paisley Road West. I recall one foggy evening - real pea souper, when the Burton's window was smashed and all the clothes from the taylor dummies were stolen - a rare looting incident in the 50s. Jim F

I now stay at 8 Govan road but was born at 26 paisley road toll. It's amazing to see the flats were I was born in 1976 . Does anyone recall singh family living there ? Please reply
